Welcome to the WIGs website!

The Colchester WIGs are a growing Women's Institute based in Colchester, Essex. We’re out to celebrate what it means to be a woman in the modern world – and that’s not being a WAG-wannabe. We’re the WIGs, the W.I. Girls, and we’re here to bring back more traditional values and pastimes that are often overlooked in today’s busy lifestyle. With more than 50 members from a mixture of ages (everyone welcome, from 18 to 118!) and backgrounds, we pride ourselves on being an all-encompassing group of women who are driven by a common interest - a desire to learn new things, discover new interests and share our experiences with like-minded people. It’s about being ourselves, while learning and growing from our adventures together.

We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm-9:30pm at The Arena Leisure Centre, Circular Road East, Colchester, so come along and join the fun! What should I expect at a WIGs meeting?

Visitors and prospective members

Visitors are welcome to all our monthly meetings (suggested donation £4). If you decide to join up as a full member you will also be entitled to attend all our subgroups and socials!
